International Society of Arboriculture
http://www.treesaregood.com/
I use this page the most: http://www.treesaregood.org/treeowner
It has the same information as ISA’s consumer brochures. I refer many clients and other callers to this information.
Arbor Day Foundation

The Arbor Day Foundation runs the Tree City USA program. Honolulu is a Tree City USA!
Arbor Day Hawai`i
http://www.arbordayhawaii.org/
This website provides information about upcoming Arbor Day activities in Hawaii, including free tree giveaways. Hawaii’s Arbor Day is officially the first Friday in November each year. The tree giveaways are usually held on the following Saturday at locations throughout the state.
Grant opportunities
Kaulunani Urban and Community Forestry Program
http://dlnr.hawaii.gov/forestry/lap/kaulunani/
The premier grant organization for urban forestry in Hawaii is Kaulunani. It’s a great resource for non-profits and other community organizations with few funds and a lot of volunteers looking to install landscaping. My company has been awarded two Kaulunani educational grants thus far.
Other resources
Hawaii State Public Library System (HSPLS)
http://www.librarieshawaii.org/
With the help of my Kaulunani grants, I have donated numerous arboricultural resources to HSPLS. These are available for anyone in the State of Hawaii with a library card – and library cards are free! You can even request a publication online and HSPLS will send it to the branch library most convenient to you for pick up. Most of my donations are industry-related publications, but others are appropriate for teachers, children, and others who want to learn more about trees.
